Two Common Lithium Batteries
There are two main lithium batteries: ternary(三元的) lithium battery and lithium iron phosphate(磷酸盐) battery. Both are lithium-ion(锂离子) batteries. Their basic rule is simple: lithium ions(离子) move between two electrodes(电极) to store and release electricity.
Ternary(三元的) lithium battery uses nickel(镍), cobalt(钴) and manganese(锰). It has high energy density(密度), so it stores more power. It is mainly used in long-range electric cars and takes about 40% of the market.
Lithium iron phosphate(磷酸盐) (LFP) battery is safer, cheaper and has a longer life. It is used in home energy storage(储能) and basic electric cars. It takes about 60% of the market. They fit different daily needs.
